Wilma J. Whaley, age 82 of Chippewa Lake, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born July 9, 1929 in Martiny Township, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Drier) Jehnzen. Wilma married John Edgar Whaley February 12, 1947 in Big Rapids. Wilma was employed by Wolverine World Wide until her health declined. She loved to sew, quilt, knit and embroidery. Wilma was part of the Chippewa Lake Methodist Church Ladies Aide. She is survived by her children, John (Emmajene) Whaley of Weidman, James (Patty) Whaley of Big Rapids and daughter Diana (Robert) Routley of Stanwood; 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister Ada Morden of Rodney; a sister-in-law Adeline Jehnzen of Mecosta; many nieces and nephews. Wilma was a preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Edgar Whaley on May 12, 1985; a sister, Gertrude Lintemuth; her brothers, Carl John Jehnzen and Adolph Jehnzen; a daughter-in-law Sueellen Whaley; a great-granddaughter Gabreil Sue Fulton. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service at Chippewa Lake Cemetery will be held at a later date.
