Wilma E. Beak, age 94, of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 The Brook Assisted Living in Newaygo. She was born June 16, 1923 in Austin Township, Mecosta County, MI to Giles and Maude (Waterman) Hollenbeck. Wilma graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1942 and lived in the area most of her life. Wilma worked well into her 80s. She was previously employed at Hanchett Manufacturing, Ferris State University, Klines Department Store, worked for Doctors Cummings and King, worked at Michigan Home Health Care and most recently spent time helping children as a foster Grandma.

Wilma was a member of the Stanwood Eagles and always looked forward to playing Euchre there. She enjoyed sitting by the river and dancing when she was able.

Wilma is survived by two children, Ricky (Bonnie) Koehn of Belmont and Marlene Porter of Stanwood; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchidlren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Fritz Koehn and Art Beak; her son, Jerry Koehn and nine siblings, Bill Hollenbeck, Kaywood Hollenbeck, Preston Hollenbeck, Alton Hollenbeck, Delma Crandall, Marvis Sharp, Emma Reynolds, Doris Dysard and Leah Winans.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Lynn Winans officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6th at the funeral home. Wilma will be laid to rest at Stanwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Wilmas name to Christs Harvest Church in Big Rapids or the charity of the donors choice.
