William John "Bill" Walsh, age 81 of Barryton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. He was born on December 26, 1938 to Raymond and Cecilia (Hanes) Walsh in Detroit, MI and attended school at St. Leo's Catholic School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1962. In the mid 70s Bill started Bills Auto Glass. He proudly owned and operated it in Detroit until his retirement in 2014. Bill loved the lake life and decided to purchase property on Diamond Lake in the 80s. On June 5, 1995 he married Jackie Bednarz. He and Jackie made their home in Detroit until moving permanently to their summer home after retirement. Bill was always a hard worker. He was employed by Village Glenn Apartments in Big Rapids and Marion as maintenance personnel. He enjoyed testing his luck on the slot machines, hunting, boating, cutting the lawn and working on cars. When he was younger he looked forward to going dancing with Jackie and bowling. He always had a supply of dog treats and there was always a special place in his heart for kids. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie; two children, Alan (Kelly) Walsh and Pamela (Don) Berry; five siblings, Frances Figurello, Raymond (Polly) Walsh, Johnny Walsh, Nancy Micks, Robert (Gale) Walsh; two granddaughters, Heather (Chris) Ridge and Kristina Walsh; two great-granddaughters, Brookelyn and Zoeie Ridge and many treasured friends and extended family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, John; siblings, Louis, Patricia Rymalowski, Richard, Virginia Silva, Rose Lobb and Michael "Mickey". A funeral mass will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus. Memorials in Bills name can be made to the family for final expenses.
