William Anthony "Tony" Sackett, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home in Mecosta. Tony was born on August 30, 1965 in Ypsilanti, MI to William and Karen (Koster) Sackett. The Sackett's moved in the early 70's and raised their children in the Mecosta area where Tony attended Chippewa Hills High School thru his senior year. He served in the United States Army and was a master welder. Tony loved music and to play the drums. He liked dry walling and was good at creating things with his hands. Tony looked forward to boating, kicking back a beer and showing family and friends pictures on his phone. His smile and character could not be easily forgotten. Tony will be truly missed by: his beloved mother Karen (John) Vanvlerah of Lake; the love of his life, Charity Mathews of Mecosta; 4 children he loved to no end, 2 sons, Andrew (Yvette) Sackett of Howell and Eric (Kristin Lucha) Sackett of Big Rapids and 2 daughters, Crystal and Tori Sackett; siblings, David (Beth) Sackett of Franklin, VA, Wade (Jessica) Sackett of Blanchard; a half-sister, Courtney Sackett of IN; a step brother Jason Vanvlerah, step sister Saness Palmerton; one granddaughter he treasured and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family and friends who will continue to hold their memories close to their hearts. Tony was preceded in death by: his dad William H. Sackett; and two brothers, Roger and Patrick. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the family greeting friends one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Tony's name can be left at the funeral home.
