Obituary

William S. Rozier age 84 of Big Rapids went home to his Lord on Monday, November 15, 2010. He was born November 28, 1925 in St. Paul's Township, Robeson County, North Carolina. William spent his childhood in North Carolina and moved to Flint Michigan to take a job at the Chevrolet manufacturing plant. He worked until being drafted into the United States Army, serving honorably during the Korean War. Following the service he returned to Chevrolet and on October 11, 1958 William married Mary Lou Kelley. He left Chevrolet in 1967. William and Mary Lou they moved to Copemish, MI and together started the Copemish Church of God as lay ministers. From there William worked various jobs until 1970 when the family moved to Reed City and he took a job with the city of Reed City as the cemetery sexton. During that time William and Mary Lou helped start the Reed City Church of God, which is now the Ashton Church of God. William retired in November of 1987 and that following summer went to Alaska for 11 years until returning to Michigan in 1999. He attended Resurrection Life Church in Big Rapids. William leaves his family and friends with the legacy of a man who continually gave to others, touched people's hearts in a special way and delivered many to the Lord. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 glorious years, Mary Lou Rozier of Big Rapids; children, Timothy (Susan) Rozier of North Pole, Alaska, Mark (Norma Jane) Rozier of Paris, William Jr. (Bernadette) Rozier of Tucson, AZ, Brenda Swanson of LeRoy; grandchildren, Timothy, Randall, Matthew, Aaron and Rachel Rozier; Jennifer and Philip Swanson; a great-grandson, Trenton Rozier; 3 brothers, Wilbur Rozier of Florida, Raymond (Sylvia) Rozier of Florida, Aubury Rozier of Flint; a sister, Alta Marie Rozier of Flint; a brother-in-law, Richard Kelley of Lanchine; a sister-in-law, Beulah (Ron) Gordon of Swartz Creek and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Curtis and John Rozier. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Ron Witbeck officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
