William D. McCallum, age 82 of Evart, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. Bill was born June 27, 1929 in Chippewa Township, the son of Floyd and Edna (Colegrove) McCallum. He graduated from Barryton High School in 1948 and moved to the Detroit area for work. Bill was employed by Caterpillar for 36 years as a warranty manager until his retirement. While he was living in the Redford area, Bill was the Past Master of the Lola Valley Masonic Lodge. He later moved back to Evart and became an active member in the Chippewa Lake Community Church. Bill was outdoors any chance he had; gardening, cutting wood and hunting. The highlight of Bill's hunting adventures was when he bagged his 10-point buck on opening morning of 2011. He enjoyed reading and received the 100 Book Cup at the Barryton Public Library. Bill had a positive attitude and really enjoyed life. He was always willing to help someone and get involved in any project he could. Bill loved his family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathy of Evart; his children, Linette McCallum of Plymouth, Lori (Mark) Wilson of Garden City, Laura (Tracy) Inger of Grosse Pte. Park, Janice Dunham of Worthington, OH and Brenda (Greg) Hack of Poulsbo, WA; his grandchildren, Kristin, Hilliary and Evan Inger, Jacob Hahn, Robbie Dunham, Aaron and Duncan Hack; his nieces and nephews, Darryl (Carla) McCallum, Mike (Marcia) Ulrich, George Corwin and Joanne Brandt; and his extended family. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 20th at the Chippewa Lake Community Church with Pastor Steven Scott and Pastor Kevin Parkins officiating.
