William C. "Bill" Langworthy, age 78 of Grant Center, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home. He was born January 13, 1937 in Big Rapids, the son of George and Ruth (Larsen) Langworthy. Bill graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1955 and enlisted into the United States Air Force two years later. He married Maria Cusworth on May 29, 1959 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Bill honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force in 1977 and began his civil service as a Base Fuels Manager POL until he retired in 1996. Bill had a passion for hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching University of Michigan Football. Bill was a member of the Big Rapids AmVets Post 1941 and the Big Rapids Eagles 2535. He loved his family; especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Langworthy of Grant Center; four children, Michael J. (Alissar) Langworthy M.D. of Boston, Theresa Martino of Houston, Texas, Karen (Dib) Langworthy-Hankins of Mt. Clemens, and Diana "Dudley" (Jon-Thomas) Burgess of Grant Center; six grandchildren, Nadia and Alissar "Katie" Langworthy, Paige Martino, Thomas-Jay and Breanna-Lee Burgess, and Kreszentia Hankins; four siblings, Ardith Smith of Big Rapids, Marlene Waddell of Mecosta, Terry (Kay) Langworthy of Big Rapids, and Jeannie (Bernie) Snider of Remus; many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George Langworthy and Ruth Langworthy-Borstler; stepfather, Pete Borstler; two brothers, Johnny and Thomas Langworthy. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 6th at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
