William J. Ganzak, age 84, of Chase passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1930 to Jacob and Antoinette (Shimkus) Ganzak in Dearborn, MI. Bill graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn. He entered into the US Army during the Koreran War and was honorably discharged in 1953. Bill was a devout Catholic his entire life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as a 3rd and 4th degree member. He was a lifetime member of Reed City VFW Post 2964 and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and reading. Bill is survived by his loving wife Jean of Chase; seven children, Karen (Scott) Marchuck, William (Anita), Michael (Penny Marie), Thomas (Debbie), Dennis (Candace), James (Marisa), Anne Marie (Patrick) Gaffka; three step-children, Andrew McCarron, Steven (Patty) McCarron, Gwendolyn Sue (Dennis) Rose; grandchildren, Mitchell (Rachel) Ganzak, Mackenzi Ganzak, Michael Ganzak, Patrick Ganzak, Madison Ganzak, Brandon Ganzak, Justin Ganzak, Johnny Ganzak, Emily Ganzak, Sarah Ganzak, Cassandra Ganzak, Samantha Ganzak, Jacob Ganzak, Steven Michael McCarron and Leeann McCarron; two great-grandchildren, J.J. and Ema; his beloved dog Bo and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Anthony Ganzak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Reed City with Father Michael Hodges officiating. The family will greet friends at St. Philip Neri on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to mass, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at church. Memorial contributions in Bill's name can be made to Hospice of Michigan, Big Rapids.
