William "Bill" R. Doke Jr., age 78 of Barryton passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. On September 16, 1932 he was born in Detroit, MI to William R. and Cecilia (Parent) Doke. Bill married Barbara Johnson on September 1, 1956. They moved to Barryton in the early 1990's to enjoy their retirement. Eight years ago Bill was elected to the Village of Barryton Council as the Zoning Administrator and upon Barb's passing in April of 2010 he finished out her term as trustee on the Village Council. Bill is survived by two children; Pam (Robert) Lucas and Paul (Jan) Doke both of Fenton; four grandsons, Jason (Melissa) Lucas, Justin Lucas, Paul Doke II and Eric (Kamron) Doke; one brother, Robert (Marge) Doke of Clare; sister-in-law Carol Marttila, brother-in-law John (Vera) Johnson, 8 nieces and nephews and many friends from Barryton. Bill was preceded in death his parents, sister Doris Doke and his beloved wife of 53 years Barbara Doke. A memorial service will be held April 30, 2011 at 11:30 AM at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with a luncheon following.
