Obituary

William J. Couturier, age 84 of Morley, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at his home. He was born September 28, 1925 in Suttons Bay to the late William and Anna (Dropping) Couturier. Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific and European theaters. He married the former Delores Stowe on October 16, 1948. They made their home in Northport for 19 years while Bill worked for the Railroad and the Northport Association. They next moved to Suttons Bay where Bill worked for the Leelanau County Road commission, retiring after more than 20 years of service. Following retirement Bill and Delores moved to Morley where they have lived for the past 19 years. Bill was a member of American Legion Post #554 of Morley. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delores of Morley; 4 children, Ronald (Eileen) Couturier of New Jersey, Mazie (Henry "Ross" ) Normand of Morley, Alan (Carol) Couturier of Alabama, Barry Couturier of Morley; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Ronald Wynn officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #554 of Morley. Memorial contributions in William Couturier's name may be made to either the American Legion Post #554 of Morley or the Charity of the donor's choice.
