William A. "Bill" Bowers, age 59 of Morley, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at his home. He was born January 21, 1958 in Big Rapids the son of Kenneth Sr. and Marian (Shepard) Bowers. Bill had attended both the Big Rapids and Morley Stanwood Schools. He was his fathers #1 helper on the farm and was gifted with a talent for small engine repair. Bill spent many years assisting his father with the Mecosta County Blood Drive and also enjoyed volunteering for the Mecosta County Sheriffs Posse. He is survived by his mother, Marian Bowers; two brothers, Kenneth Bowers Jr., James Bowers; two sisters, Jennie (Mark) Derby, Cynthia (Michael Sr.) Marrs all of Morley; his aunt, Margaret Shaw of Onaway; two uncles, Richard Shepard of Grand Ledge, Lawrence (Judy) Shepard of Middleton; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Kenneth Bowers Sr.; a brother, Robert Bowers and his uncle, Henry Shepard. Funeral services will take 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Roger Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery near Hersey. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Thursday.
