Bill Dennis went to his eternal home, May 1, 2013. He was born April 18, 1933 in Flint, MI to Raymond and Nellie (Riley) Dennis. His family moved to the Mecosta area where he attended school in Mecosta. Bill served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge of Big Rapids and Six Lakes and a life member of Eastern Stars of Six Lakes. He was also a life member of V.F.W. Post # 2335 of Mecosta, a leader of the Mecosta County React team, the CB radio club and a member of the Mecosta County Sheriff's Posse for several years. Bill coached youth boy's baseball and girl's softball teams for many years. He became a member of the Sylvester Church in 2011. In his later years, Bill was a volunteer driver for the Mecosta County Commission on aging, a member of the Board of Veterans affairs for Mecosta County. Bill worked for Ranney Refrigeration for 10 years and Gibson's Refrigeration in Greenville for 26 years until his retirement in 1995. Bill married his childhood friend and neighbor Barb Daniels on January 7, 1953; to this union was born six children, four sons, Bill Dennis II of New Mexico, James Dennis of Grand Rapids, John Dennis of New Mexico and Donald (Carol) Dennis of Kansas; two daughters, Deb Dennis of Mecosta, Pamela "Penny" Cour of Saranac; 13 grandchildren, Bill Dennis III, Jackie (Ken) Bigelow, Katrina (Mark) Bontekoe, Jeramy (Misty) Dennis, Bryan (Nicole) Dennis, Jo Beth Cour, Terry Cour, Jessica (Matt) Weir, Donald Dennis II, Nicole (O'Rian) Oakley, Stephine (Dwayne) Brown, Rebecca Dennis, John II (Kari) Dennis and 25 great-grandchildren. Bill is also survived by two sisters, two brothers; he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. Cremation has taken place and a memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at the V.F.W. Hall in Mecosta with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions in Bills name may be made to either the V.F.W. Post #2335 of Mecosta or the Eastern Stars of Six Lakes.
