Wilbur Benn Johnson, age 75 of Weidman, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born on July 20, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant to Thomas "Del" and Elizabeth "Betty" (Benn) Johnson. On April 22, 1960 he married Carol A. Blodgett in Weidman and they made their home and raised their family on the Benn Homestead. Benn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol of Weidman; three children, Thomas (Lisa) and Keven both of Weidman, and Tammy Couthen of Dewitt; one brother, Duane (Mary Macumber) Johnson of Naples, FL; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. Benn was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Eric Couthen; and a sister Jeanne (William) Rohloff. Benn retired from Morbark and was very active in the community. He was a member of the Lions Club and United Methodist Church in Weidman. He sat on the Sherman Twp. Board, Nottawa Sherman Fire Dept. Board; and had volunteered as a fireman for 38 years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Weidman United Methodist Church (3200 N. Woodruff) with Pastor Scott Smith officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Weidman. Memorial donations in Benn's name can be made to the Lions Club, Nottawa Sherman Fire Dept., the United Methodist Church or Woodland Hospice.
