Wesley O. "Coush" Cousineau, age 84 of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011. He was born March 26, 1926 in Home Township, Newaygo County the son of Fred and Hattie (Schermerhorn) Cousineau. Following the death of Wesley's mother the family relocated to Marquette; during this time he worked at the local sawmill. Wes eventually moved to Grand Rapids and was employed by Bultema Brothers Iron and Metal Company. Following his retirement he moved back to Big Rapids to be closer to his family. Wes made his home with his niece, Joyce and her husband Charles Zimmerman for 23 years. He is survived by 6 nieces and nephews, Joyce (Charles) Zimmerman, James (Ruth) Harter, Vicki Wicklund, Mary (Melvin) Leslie, Donna Armstrong, and Fred (Pam ) Zuke; 12 great-nieces and nephews, Tony and Rodney Harter, Charles J. (Lori) Zimmerman, Connie (William) Straathof, Clinton Zimmerman, Karston and Bianca Straathof, Ana (David) DePew, Loretta (Garrett) Hays, Calvin (Darla) Zimmerman, Nathan Zimmerman, and Robert Clark. Besides his parents, Wes was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters, Lula Zuke, Frances Dickson, Noah Cousineau, Helen Harter, Goldie Washington, Leon Cousineau, Ethel Wicklund, and an infant brother Zeb. A spring inurnment will take place at Whipple Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Wesley's name to Hospice of Michigan. Envelopes are available at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids where arrangements were made.
