Wendy Sue (Bruinsma) Oertling, age 68, passed away at home November 22, 2022. She was born in East Grand Rapids to Elaine (Hancock) and Robert Bruinsma. Wendy spent most of her formative years growing up in Big Rapids, MI, and attended college at Central Michigan University. Wendy was married to Donald Oertling for 24 years, and together they ran a restaurant in Canadian Lakes. Wendy also was employed by Ferris State University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elaine and her husband Donald. She is lovingly survived by her step-sons, Shawn Oertling of Indiana and Christopher Oertling of Louisiana, her brother Robert "Douglas" Bruinsma of Colorado and sister Beth (Robert) Noe of Texas, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friend Kenneth Skar. A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to Animal Rescue Coalition of Mecosta County, as she was an avid animal lover.
