After a lengthy battle with Parkinsons disease, Wendell Eugene "Waz" Wasnich, of Chippewa Lake, passed away on May 15, 2017 in Big Rapids at the age of 75. He was born on July 12, 1941 in Midland to Glenn and Thelma (Cunningham) Wasnich. Wendell happily married Barbara Kowalk on May 25, 1963 in Lansing. He proudly served in the United States Army until 1968 and retired from Lansing Board of Water and Light in 1996, after 35 years of employment. In 1996, Wendell and Barb made their home at Chippewa Lake and enjoyed making many memories while traveling with friends and family. He was an avid fisherman and wood craftsman but above all, Wendell was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He is survived by the love of his life, for nearly 54 years, Barbara; children, Kristin (David) Lytle of Chippewa Lake and Craig (Mahria) Wasnich of Lansing; sisters, Shirley Wasnich and Beverly Bancroft; 5 grandchildren, Dave (Kaylee), Jacob & Jessica Lytle and Graham & Elliot Wasnich; 2 great-grandsons, Landon & Carter Lytle; a sister-in-law, Loreen (Jeff) Morgan and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Thelma; a brother, Glenn; mother and father in-law, Harry and Noma Kowalk and brothers-in-law, Darl Bancroft and Jim Simpson. Special thanks to the staff at Metron of Big Rapids and Heartland Hospice for their compassion and care during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the family greeting friends one hour prior. The family will also greet friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J.
