Weeon-onka "Wee" (LaVonne Rose) Sheldon, age 50 of Rodney, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 25, 2014 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was at her home with her family by her side. Wee was born March 17, 1964 in Stanwood the daughter of Keith J. and Linda Kay (Cooley) Rose. She was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Wee married Charles F. Sheldon II on January 16, 2005 in Reed City. Together they made their home in the Rodney area for many years. Wee was a steward to many children and a positive influence on their lives, including Katie Lynn Chick. She was a very spiritual person and close to her Lord. Wee's family can forever take comfort in knowing Wee did not die, but was reborn, on Christmas Day 2014. She is survived by her husband Charles Sheldon of Rodney; four children, Amber Rose Yother of Morley, Kelly (Chris) Howorth of Grand Rapids, Nick Dillingham of New York, Nick (Jessie) Sheldon of Washington DC; a grandson, Haden; her mother Linda Kay Cowles of Big Rapids; stepfather, Leland Harris Sr. of Stanwood; two brothers, Lee (Brenda) Harris Jr. of Bruces Crossing, Mel Harris of Morley; sisters, Lynette (Wayne Wittlieff) Harris of Rodney, Janette (Kyle) Parks of Big Rapids, Jodie (Josh Cox) Harris of Morley, Aiyana (Roy) Bethem of Howard City, and many nieces and nephews. Wee was preceded in death by her father, Keith Jack Rose, an infant brother, Brian Scott Rose, grandparents, Mel and Wanda Cooley and John and Lucille Rose. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends on Monday, December 29th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Wee's name may be made to the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center or Wigs for Kids; whose mission is helping children look themselves and live their lives.
