Obituary

Wayne F. Schneider, age 72 of Morley, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born June 5, 1941 in Grand Rapids, the son of Bernard and Elva (Yuncker) Schneider. Wayne graduated from Wayland High School. He moved to Bradley and worked for Kesslers in Wayland for nearly 15 years. Wayne later moved to Wyoming, MI where he was employed at Steelcase for over 20 years; following retirement, he moved to Morley to make his home. He attended Christ the King/St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Howard City. Wayne was a member of the Stanwood Eagles, the Reed City Moose Lodge, the Sons of the AmVets Post #1941 in Big Rapids and the American Legion on Byron Center Avenue. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Schneider of Morley; five children, Sherri Billington of Dorr, Scott (Tammy) Schneider of Hopkins, Jean (Ron) Houghton of Grandville, Lori (Todd) Schmitz of Holland, Anna (Larry) Fontaine of Grandville; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Farrell of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Todd Schneider, two brothers, Marvin and Robert Schneider. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Deacon Richard Dubridge officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 10th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. that evening. A private burial will be at the Georgetown Cemetery in Hudsonville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials given to the Sons of the AmVets Post #1941 in Big Rapids, 320 S. 4th Ave, Big Rapids.
