Wayne Delos Balliet, 94, of Big Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on October 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 8, 1932, in Garrett, Indiana, to Forest and Ella Balliet.

Wayne graduated from Big Rapids High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He went on to build a long and dedicated career in the plumbing and heating industry, concluding his career with his business, Balliet Plumbing & Heating which he had for over 35 years.

On April 25, 1952, Wayne married his beloved wife, Shirley. Together, they created a life rooted in family and faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was deeply committed to his faith, often spending time with inmates sharing the Word of the Lord.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 74 years, Shirley Balliet; his children, Cathy (Jim) Metzler and Philip (Michelle) Balliet; his grandchildren, Melanie (Joel) Ledford, Alicia (Major) Coates, Jordan Balliet, and Jake Balliet; and his great-grandchildren, Sierra and James Ledford.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Grace Immanuel Reformed Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, MI.

Services will be held at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Home, Big Rapids, on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 11am with a public visitation an hour prior. A luncheon will be held following the funeral service at Colfax Township Hall, 14428 157th ave, Big Rapids, MI.
