Virginia Sarah (Wibirt) Parker age 94 of Reed City, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at her home. She was born July 24, 1923 in Lake County to Herman and Carrie (Gingrich) Wibirt. Virginia was the seventh child of eight in the family. She graduated from Belding High School in 1941. She married Robert Frank Parker in Reed City, MI on August 8, 1946. She was the mother to Daniel (Judy) Parker of Bay City, James (Debbie) Parker of Wilkesboro, NC and Bruce (Judy Irvin) Parker of Big Rapids. She had three grandchildren; Dr. Sarah (Jim) Parker-Colosky of Eaton Rapids, Matthew Parker of Charleston, NC, Benjamin Parker of Florence, SC. Virginia was the proud great-grandmother to Alexander Robert-Lyle Colosky of Eaton Rapids and she had many beloved nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Virginia had a very active life. She traveled to all 50 states and several provinces of Canada. She earned an associates degree in Medical Records in 1973 and worked at the Reed City Hospital for 28 years as a medical records librarian. She also worked for Dr. Brown, DDS and Dr. P.B. Kilmer, MD. Virginia worked for MOARC, volunteered for hospice and was very involved in the Reed City United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of the Eastern Star, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Business and Professional Womens Club and many more.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Parker in 1971, her siblings, Geraldine Wibirt Moore, Wayne Wibirt, Charles Wibirt, Marjorie Wibirt Dagen, Helen Wibirt Briggs, Ronald Wibirt and Clara Wibirt Fisher and a great-grandson, Jaeden J. Colosky.
A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, 503 S. Chestnut Street, Reed City, MI 49677 with Pastor Kathy Cadarette officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions, only, are preferred by Virginias family and they may be made to either Hospice of Michigan, the Reed City United Methodist Church or the Osceola Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels Program.
