Virginia A. Palmer, age 80 of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2009. She was born May 18, 1929 in Birch Run, MI the daughter of Frank and Inez Elizabeth (Harrigan) Loviska. She married Charles B. Palmer on March 26, 1946 in Mecosta. They made their home in Greenville for over 35 years where Virginia was employed at Wolverine World Wide. She also worked for Wolverine as a supervisor at the Rockford and Big Rapids Factories. Following retirement Charles and Virginia moved to Big Rapids. Virginia was very community minded. She attended city council meetings and was a member of the Good Neighbors Club for many years. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids. Virginia took great pleasure in gardening and always had beautiful flowers around her home for everyone to enjoy. She is survived by 3 brothers, John David (Chris) Loviska of Bradenton, FL, James Loviska of Big Rapids, Donald (Charleen) Loviska of Interlochen; 3 sisters, Mary Anderson of Hersey, Margaret Fuller of Big Rapids, Shirley (Carrol) Fort of Pavo, GA and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Charles Palmer on October 29, 1995; 2 brothers, Francis and Richard Loviska, 2 brothers-in-law, LeRoy Fuller and Albert Anderson and a sister-in-law, Sally Loviska. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 18th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. Interment will be at Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Virginia's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
