Virginia "Ginnie" M. Moorman, age 82 of Tubbs Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at her home. She was born August 9, 1929 in Richland Township, Montcalm County, the daughter of Dallas and Mary (Price) Martin. Ginnie was raised in Vestaburg and graduated from Vestaburg High School in 1945. She married George Moorman on October 30, 1948. They made their home in Ionia until 1960, when they moved to Tubbs Lake to work and reside. George and Ginnie established Tubbs Lake Subdivsion. They also owned and operated Tubbs Lake Resort for many years. Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, especially at their place in Canada. Ginnie liked crafting, sewing and quilting. She had served as the Sheridan Township Supervisor and on the MOCAT board. Ginnie attended Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Moorman and her son David (Joy) Moorman all of Mecosta; Five grandchildren, Melissa, Alex, Erik, Tanya (Sam) Fredrick and Sarah (Tim) Collins; Five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (Dale) Humphreys, Arla (Junior) Swain and a brother, Dean (Diane) Martin all of Ionia and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ginnie was preceded in death by her husband, George "Buck" Moorman; a sister, Phyllis Miller and a brother, Royal Martin. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 30th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Paul Schneider officiating. Burial will be at Strong Cemetery in Sheridan Township. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
