Virginia L. Butler, age 76 of Stanwood passed away Monday morning, April 7, 2008 in Cadillac, MI. She was born July 9, 1931 in Vermont, Illinois to John and Vergie (Smelser) Johnson. Virginia raised her family in Pekin, Illinois and always referred to Pekin as "home" . Virginia is survived by her four children: Marcella ("Skip" Lester) Begeman of Stanwood, Fred Butler of Mesquite, TX, Kenny Butler of Pekin, IL, Carla (Jaymie) Cox of Rowlett, TX, Daughter-in-law "" Carol Butler of Goodhope, IL, Three sisters "" Ruth (Harry) Bagley of Morton, IL, Mae (Tavy) Tavernier of Pekin, IL, Margaret Miller of Missouri, Six grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David on February 27, 2006 and three brothers, Leo, Lloyd, and Hap Johnson. Private family services have been held at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids, MI.
