Barryton Virginia M. Bazaire, 97 peacefully passed from this life Nov. 6, 2017 at Spectrum Hospital, Big Rapids. She was born on May 30, 1920 to Leonard C. and Rose (Erickson) Dodge of Chippewa Lake, MI. She graduated from Barryton High School in 1937 and was the last surviving member of that class. In October of 1937 she married Neal A. Bazaire who preceded her in 2001 after 64 years of marriage. Virginia was preceded in death by her brother Donald (Mona) Dodge of Evart; a sister, Betty (John) Cummings of Pierson and a grandson Todd Soper of Nashville, TN. Surviving are three children, Barry (Linda) Bazaire of Barryton, Claudia (David) Soper of Waynesboro, VA, and Jerry (Sally) Bazaire of Lake Havasu City, AZ; grandchildren, Courtney Bazaire, Chad Bazaire, Jaime Sue Soper Threadgill, Richard Bazaire, Julie Bazaire Johnson and Joni Bazaire Osborn; four step-grandchildren, David Stevens, Dale Stevens, Michael Stevens, Angela Stevens Taylor; ten great-grandchildren, four great-greatgrandchildren and eleven nieces and nephews. Virginia was a lifelong member of the Chippewa and Barryton Methodist Church serving as organist and pianist, active in the singing and bell choirs, and a member of the church board of directors for many years. Virginia retired from the Barryton Post Office after 23 years of service. She and Neal travelled extensively around the country during their retirement. Virginia was noted for her beautiful flower gardens and the many quilts and sweaters she made for family and friends. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of Virginias life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the family greeting friends one hour prior (10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m.) Memorial donations in Virginias name can be made to the Barryton United Methodist Church.Interment will be at Chippewa Lake Cemetery.
