Violet A. Robinson, age 82 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at The Brook of Big Rapids. She was born September 16, 1935 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Groner) Platt. Violet graduated from Rockford High School in 1953. She married James E. Robinson on November 28, 1953 in Rockford and together they raised their family in Morley. Violet was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, and baking. Violet worked hard at everything she did. She was passionate, humble, compassionate, and self-sacrificing. Violet liked to do crafts, canvas needle points, word searches, and picture puzzles in her spare time. She loved her family and they were her life. Violet will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James E. Robinson of Big Rapids; eight children, Dianne (Mike) Stilson of Morley, Bonnie (Randy) Jennings of Clarksville, Arkansas, James A. Robinson of Oro Grande, California, Peggy (Ron) Schneider of Big Rapids, Kay (James) Johnson of Chandler, Arizona, Theresa (Bill) Lawler of Morley, Jeffrey (Lynne) Robinson of Remus, and Ricky (Nancy) Moore of Morley; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Platt of Hillsdale and David (Marla) Platt of Grand Rapids; four sisters-in-law, June Platt of Rockford, Helen Platt of Rockford, Lou Ann Platt of Cedar Springs, and Carole Bruursema of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Robert Platt, Howard Platt, Jeanne Brantner, and Alvin "Buck" Platt; two infant brothers; and two grandsons, Ross Tronsen and Anthony Schneider. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor John David Stilson officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17th at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Violet will be laid to rest at Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley.
