Violet P. Kelley, age 90 of Stanwood, passed away peacefully at home with family, Friday, May 24, 2013. She was born February 15, 1923 in Grand Rapids the daughter of William and Orpha (Scott) Finch. Violet graduated from Morley High School. She married Milo "Ben" Kelley in Big Rapids on July 3, 1942. They made their home in Stanwood where they raised their children. For many years Violet had been a member of the Stanwood Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School; most recently she had been attending Luther Bible Chapel. Violet loved the Lord and was looking forward to going home. She is survived by her six children, Lawrence Kelley of New Hampshire, Ronald Kelley of Gladstone, Judy (Milton) Benson of Stanwood, Darwin (Terri) Kelley of Morley, Joyce (Merv) Maurer of Newaygo, Owen Kelley of Gladstone; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Milo "Ben" Kelley, a brother Clair Finch, a sister Dorothy Newman and a daughter-in-law, Ardith Kelley. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Ron White officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, May 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near Stanwood. Memorial contributions in Violets name may be given to the Fairview Cemetery for its perpetual care.
