Violet M. Hess, age 78 of Paris, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at her home. She was born to Albert and Laura (Johnson) Boyce on May 26, 1935 in Osceola County. Violet was employed by Wolverine World Wide in Big Rapids. While she was working she met Howard Hess, whom she wed November 20, 1953. Together they made their home in Mecosta County most of their married life. Violet enjoyed baking, crocheting, bingo and playing cards with friends and relatives. She also liked staying home and spending time with her family. She is survived by five children, Kathy Tyler of Newaygo, Mike (Nancy) Hess of Muskegon, Lewis and Bruce Hess of Paris and Joe Hess of Howard City; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Dan (Carol) Boyce of Big Rapids, Rosalyn (Ron) Baumgartner of Grand Blanc and Denise (Guy) Hyde of PA; sister-in-law, Patt Boyce of White Cloud; brother-in-law, George Wilkins of Pontiac; several nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, March 7, 2011; an infant son, Larry; three infant siblings; four siblings, Leslie (Helen) Boyce, Marvin Boyce, Sue Ann Shepherd and Edna Wilkins; son-in-law, Bryan Tyler and her parents. Cremation has taken place and there are no services at this time.
