Vincent E. Shea, age 78 of Big Rapids formerly of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, March 04, 2009 at his home. He was born April 28, 1930 in Detroit to Frank and Marguerite Shea. Vincent was honorably discharged from the United States Air force serving during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors Tech Center for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Vincent had made his home in Big Rapids for the past 18 years. He is survived by his loving wife Theresa "Jane" ; 2 sons, Sgt. Patrick E. Shea of New Port Richey, FL, presently serving in Iraq, Dr. Daniel T. (Meredith) Shea of Big Rapids; 4 grandchildren, Patrick (Jennifer) Shea of Grand Rapids, Amanda Shea of New Port Richey, FL, Christopher Shea, Brian Shea both of Big Rapids; a brother, Frank O'Shea of Sterling Heights; 2 sisters, Mary (John) Rumschlag of Warren, Patricia (James) Leonard of Scottsdale, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Vincent was preceded in death by a brother, John and 3 sisters, Dorothy, Agnes and Marguerite. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7th at St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Friday, March 6th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 8:00 p.m. that evening. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the Church on Saturday. Memorial contributions in Vincent Shea's name may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind or In-House Hospice Foundation.
