Vernon A. Warren, age 81 of Dimondale formerly of Weidman, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his home. He was born in Bangor Township, Bay County, on May 9, 1939, the son of Allen and Ardis "June" (Terwilliger) Warren. Vernon was a graduate from Mecosta High School in 1958. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Vernon married Kathleen Conway on November 12, 1966, and together they raised their family in Durand. Vernon was employed as a Supervisor for General Motors for 30 years. Kathleen passed on June 3, 1995. Vernon began working at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant in the small machine shop doing repairs. He was a talented man that could fix or build anything. Vernon also enjoyed woodworking, tinkering in the barn, and was an avid reader. He liked the outdoors, hunting, and playing the accordion. Vernon made friends wherever he went and looked forward to visiting with friends over a cup of coffee.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife of nearly 18 years, Irene (Cramer) Warren; two daughters, Tammie (Ian) Windischhofer of Vestaburg and Julie (Joe) Montroy of Rockford; two step-daughters, Kathy Bigelow of Dimondale and Michelle (David) Conarton of Mason; five grandchildren, Logan, Grace, Kathleen, Jack, and Elizabeth; four step-granddaughters, Renee, Heather, Alysha, and Briana; two great-grandsons, Wally and Parker; brother, Ron Warren of Flint; brother-in-law, Gordon "Buck" Taylor of Rodney; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Kathleen Warren, sister Evon Taylor, and sister-in-law Bonnie Warren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Vernons name to the Windsor Township Emergency Medical Services, Grace Hospice, or Talking Book Library.
Graveside memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Fairview Cemetery in Weidman.
Cremation and care entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
