Vernie V. "Pat" Youngs, age 94 of Reed City, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born March 18, 1918 in Kalkaska, the daughter of Milton and Dollie (Woodard) Strait. Pat is survived by eight children, Trixie Shepherd of Reed City, Rosalee (Jim) Armour of Big Rapids, Kay (Paul) Bittner of Taylor, James Booker of Newaygo, Patsy (Mike) Ensing of Caledonia, Nola Green of Hersey, Jerry (Marilyn) Booker of Allen Park, and Eddie (Barb) Booker of Dearborn Heights; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, June Hutchins of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George Youngs; an infant daughter, Kathleen Booker; a grandson, Tom Ensing; five brothers and one sister; sons-in-law, George Shepherd and Jerry Green; a daughter-in-law, Linda Booker; and her parents. Memorial services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Liberty Baptist Church, 485 Old US Highway 131, Reed City, with Pastor Trevor Guiles officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Church.
