Our dear mother, Vera Anna (Miller) Retzloff peacefully passed away on May 24th at the age of 89 at her daughters home in Paris after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was well loved in the Big Rapids community. Vera was born on July 25, 1932, to Harry N. and Hilda M. Tift in Big Rapids. She attended Big Rapids schools and lived nearly her whole life in Big Rapids. On November 7, 1951, Vera married Charles A. Miller in Big Rapids. They had two children, David L. Miller and Molly J. (Miller) Bopp. Charles passed away in 1958. On July 25, 1981, Vera married Edward K. Retzloff in Big Rapids and they enjoyed many happy years together prior to his death in 1998. Vera was a very hard worker throughout her life and set a good example to her children and grandchildren. She worked at Denhams Manufacturing, Wolverine Worldwide and was a top Avon representative for over 25 years. Vera is survived by her children: David L. (Sherryl Derevage) Miller of Big Rapids, Molly (Warren II) Bopp of Paris; grandchildren, Warren G. (Amanda) Bopp III of Ada, Charles A. (Tasha) Bopp of Kent City, Katie A. Bopp-Bull (Joshua) of Big Rapids, David L. (Angela) Miller of Pryor, OK, and Monica (Justin) Dukes of Canadian Lakes; great-grandchildren include, Andrew Bull, Aiden Bull, Jackson Bopp, Austin Bull, Warren Bopp IV, Henry Bopp, Sophie Bopp, Dawson (Andrea) Norris, Drew Miller, Brooks Miller, Isabelle Dukes; great-great grandson, Diego Norris; sister, Louise Rehkopf; brother, Lawrence (Dorothy Frye) Tift of Swartz Creek, brother-in-law, George Rentschler of Lakeview; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hilda Tift; husbands, Charles A. Miller and Edward K. Retzloff; brother, Claud Tift; sister, Julia Rentschler; and brother-in-law, Earl Rehkopf. The family would like to extend special thanks to her children, David Miller and Warren II and Molly Bopp along with her special grandchildren who cared for her during the last several years, Warren (Amanda) Bopp III, Charles (Tasha) Bopp, Katie (Joshua) Bopp-Bull and Andrew Bull and special caretakers Tammie and David Hopp, Fatima Rush and Jackie Jensen. Visitation and the funeral service will be held at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home, 13985 Northland Drive, Big Rapids, MI. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 25th from 5:00 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 26th at 11 a.m. with visitation an hour prior. A luncheon will be held at Green Charter Township Hall, 21431 Northland Drive, Paris, MI following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Spectrum Health Renucci Hospitality House in Grand Rapids or a charity of your choice.
