Obituary

Velma Mae Parker, age 78 of Lake, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 in Farwell. She was born January 19, 1933 in Sandusky, MI to Delford and Violet (Minnick) Groh. Velma was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Oil City. In her spare time she enjoyed reading her bible. Velma will always be remembered by her many friends and family members as a very loving and caring person. She is survived by nine children, Percy (Kathy) Ward of Evart, Violet Ward of Alabama, Stella (Jim) Gandert of Noel, Missouri, Joyce (Mike) Brown of Farwell, Brenda Woodchisky of Ubly, Mary Seeley of Mt. Pleasant, Ralph Wertz of Lake, David (Michelle) Peterson of St. Louis, and Maida Wertz of Georgia; eight brothers and sisters, Betty (Don) Isaac, Edmond Groh, Violet (Lon) Turner, Kathy (Bill) Eaton, Carol (Bob) Craven, Bob (Eunice) Groh, Dewight (Patty) Groh, Ray (Judy) Groh; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Velma was preceded in death by her husbands, Percy Ward, Ralph Wertz and Clifford Parker; a son Edmond Ward; two grandsons, two granddaughters; several brothers and sisters; two son-in-laws, John Woodchisky and Dennis Seeley. Funeral services will take place 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Ron Pinc officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 20th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Burial will take place at North Brinton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Velma's name may be made to the American Heart Association.
