Vanessa J. VanSyckle, age 55, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 21, 2013 at her home in Mecosta. Vanessa was born on April 27, 1958 in Highland Park, MI to Charles and Juanita (Quinn) Maxey. She graduated from Roseville High School. In the early 80's Vanessa made her home in Mecosta where she raised her children and has resided ever since. She had wonderful memories of camping trips, shopping, spending time with her family, the outdoors, stock car races, cooking and preferred to be barefoot. She was employed as a finance supervisor at Soaring Eagle Casino for fourteen years where she made many friends. Vanessa was grateful for all the support they have given. On July 15, 2003, Vanessa married Alan VanSyckle and they made their home in Mecosta. She is also survived by children: Kurt (Andrea) Fiegel of Howard City, Alana (Andy Brockdorf) Fiegel of Blanchard, and Brandon (Claudia) Wisniewski of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Jeremy VanSyckle of Big Rapids, Jason (Kristina) VanSyckle of Mecosta; 8 grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Jonah, Gavin, Alex, Hunter, Carter and Jayden; mother-in-law Eula VanSyckle; brother-in-law Jesse VanSyckle; sister, Pam Maxey; two brothers, Gary (JoAnn) Grant and Gerald "Wayne" Grant, her beloved dog, Sissy; beloved caregivers and friends, Chris Kelley, Linda Altman and Eugene Lloyd; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Vanessa was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ed Grant. A celebration of Vanessa's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Rodney United Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Milam speaking. Those wishing to make a memorial in Vanessa's memory may do so to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, the Hospice of choice or any abused pet fund.
