Tobby D. Chase, age 38 of Barryton, passed away on January 5, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1973 in Alma, the son of Randall and Donna (Laclair) Chase. Tobby was raised in Barryton and graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1993. He was previously employed by Federal Screw. Tobby had been a mechanic for Big Rapids Tire for many years and most recently at Gary Trimarco Automotive. He enjoyed the outdoors; especially hunting, fishing, taking bike rides, and looking for mushrooms. Tobby took pleasure in working on various projects, whether it was making new ones or fixing the old ones. He had a giving personality. Tobby was always willing to help and lend a hand. He was never greedy and always put others first. Tobby is survived by his wife, Melissa "Missy" of Barryton, 2 children, Tyler Chase of Traverse City and Harley Campbell of Big Rapids; 2 stepchildren, Shelby Myers and Bruce Rettinger both of Barryton; his father, Randall (Judy) Chase of Barryton; his mother, Donna (Barry) Hamilton of Drummond Island; 3 brothers, Randall, Chad and Charlie Chase all of Barryton; 5 nieces and 3 nephews; 2 grandmothers, Lorraine Sholtz and Betty Laclair; his beloved in-laws, Bryce (Karen) Myers of Remus and Bryce (Treasha) Myers of Mecosta. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Chase and his grandfathers, Bill Sholtz and Don Laclair. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 9th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Brown Cemetery in Barryton.
