Thomas Milton Benson of Dola, Ohio passed away on December 28, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio at the age of 48. Tom was born on April 21, 1973 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Milton and Judy (Kelley) Benson. He was a 1991 graduate of Morley Stanwood Community Schools and received his Associates Degree from the University of Northwestern Ohio where he majored in Business and Automotive studies. Tom was employed at Bob Kelley Chevrolet, Moser Oil, Morton Buildings and for the last thirteen years Grob Systems in Bluffton, Ohio. On May 18, 1996 Tom married Lynnette (Morehart) and together they raised their son, Marshall, in Dola. Tom had very fond memories of growing up on the family farm near Stanwood. He loved spending time with his family and helping people. He would almost never pass someone broke down on the road if he thought he could help them. He started the Boy Scout Troop in Dunkirk, Ohio and was Scoutmaster for several years. He enjoyed teaching the boys to care for others while involving them in helping tornado victims, flood victims, doing a pet food drive and other activities. Tom was a member of the Bridgeport Church in Forest, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lynnette of Dola; son, Marshall of Dola; his parents, Milton and Judy Benson of Stanwood; sister, Toni Koons of Blanchard; three brothers, Timothy (Sarah) of Morley, Toby (Anna) of Zeeland, Torey (Lauren) of Stanwood; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Morehart of Dunkirk, Ohio; brother-in-law, Philip Morehart of Arlington, Ohio; five nieces and six nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents Marshall and Grace (Gerst) Benson and Milo and Violet (Finch) Kelley. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Woods Free Methodist Church in Stanwood. The family will greet friends one hour prior (12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) at the Church.
