Thomas L. Arndt, age 52 of Albuquerque, NM formerly of Stanwood, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born April 18, 1960 in Carson City, the son of Richard and Ada (Mursch) Arndt. Tom was a very hard worker, specializing in construction. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature; hiking, biking and mountain climbing. He was cared and loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Tom is survived by a step-son, David Allen (Shannon) Edwards of Morley; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 8 siblings, Mary Kilbourne of Ovett, MS, Ruthann Bowers of Big Rapids, Pauline Arndt of Stanwood, Brian (Sally) Arndt of Vincent, AL, Lisa Arndt of Stanwood, Sarah (Thomas Welch) Mahaffey of Big Rapids, Paul Mahaffey of Battle Creek, Brenda (Chris Frankenfield) Mahaffey of Mecosta; adopted sister, Penny Alger of Stanwood; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Ralph and Mary Mursch and John and Etta Arndt. A memorial luncheon will take place in Tom's honor at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 11th at the Eagles in Stanwood. A private interment will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery in Big Rapids at a later date.
