Theresa "Jane" Shea, age 76 of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born May 10, 1934 in Centerline, Michigan the daughter of Harry and Theresa (Bastuba) Moore. Jane earned a Bachelors of Arts from Oakland University. She married Vincent Shea and they made their home in Shelby Township until his retirement. Jane has lived in Big Rapids for the past 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids. Jane was a very patriotic and civic minded person. She was knowledgeable about government and the political process. Jane knew how to make people feel welcome in her home and was a loyal and faithful friend. She will always be remembered as a loving grandmother. Jane is survived by her 2 sons, Sgt. Patrick E. (Milanne) Shea of New Port Richie, FL, Dr. Daniel T. (Meredith) Shea of Big Rapids; 4 grandchildren, Patrick (Jennifer) Shea of Grand Rapids, Christopher Shea and Brian Shea both of Big Rapids and Amanda (Fianc Guy) Shea of New Port Richie, Fl; a great-grandson, Declan Shea; a sister, Virginia Reeb of Utica and many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent E. Shea on March 4, 2009, a sister, Bea Sydlick and a brother, Harry Moore. A memorial mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29th at St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Jane's name be made to either St. Paul's Campus Parish or the American Legion Post #98 Firing Squad both of Big Rapids.
