Theodore Larry "Ted" Gibbons, age 69 of Morley, passed from this earth on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was born on December 29, 1947, the youngest of nine children born to Arthur and Hazel (Henry) Gibbons. Upon Hazels death in 1950 from cancer, Ted lived with his Uncle John and Aunt Nellie Wiley until his graduation from Mecosta-Remus High School in 1966. He attended Michigan State University on a 4H scholarship for mechanical engineering. Ted married Jo Anne Boerma on March 9, 1968 and together they made their home in Mecosta for five years before moving to Jackson for 38 years. He and Jo Anne retired to Morley, Michigan in 2012. Ted worked as a roofer but after an injury he became a Plastic Injection Molding Process Engineer. He retired from Orchid McDee in Chelsea in 2011. Ted is survived by his wife Jo Anne and two sons, Ted Jr. (Amanda) from Gladwin and Tony (Becky) from Jackson. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Jet and Brandon (their mother Avecillia) and step-grandchildren Rob, Elizabeth, Seth, Kelsey, Collin, and Roxy as well as 6 great-grandchildren. Ted treasured his tractors and loved giving the grandchildren tractor rides. He restored tractors and olds cars. Ted enjoyed all types of tractor and old engine shows, reading, gardening, traveling, farm auctions and flea markets with Jo Anne. His skills as handyman and "Mr. Fixit" were put to use in the renovations where he shared his homes with Jo Anne. Ted will be missed by all who knew him as well as his special pets. Memorial contributions may be made to Mecosta County Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels or Spectrum Health Hospice. Cremation has taken place per Teds request.
