Thelma (Pyrett) Reed, age 95 of Weidman, passed away at home on Monday, January 16, 2017. She was born June 3, 1921 in Isabella County, the daughter of Ralph and Olive (Todd) Lynch. Thelma married Jacob Pyrett in 1941. They owned and operated Pyretts Variety Store in Thompsonville, MI and then owned East Side Market in Chippewa Lake. She also was proud of working as a Rosy the Riveter during World War II. In 1974, she married Orval Reed and they made their home in Weidman.

Thelma will be remembered for her love of gardening, flowers, cooking and her love of life. She was quick witted, and enjoyed the company of neighbors and friends. Her hobbies included: bird watching, camping, fishing and playing cards.

Thelma is survived by her husband of 43 years, Orval of Weidman; daughter, Karen (Joe) Donovan of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Roberta Pyrett of Marion, OH; three step-daughters, Kathryn (Sylvester) Miranda of California, Linda (Darin) McGregor of Chippewa Lake, and Elizabeth (Wayne) Gorby of Coral; sister-in-law, Henrietta Lynch of Aurora,CO. In addition: four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jacob in 1969; son Stephen Pyrett in 2016 and siblings, Myrtle, Loyd, Roy and Ken.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 with viewing from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Burial will be at Chippewa Lake Cemetery in the spring.
