Terry M. Goldthwait, age 74, of Morley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was welcomed to his heavenly home by our Lord Jesus Christ, along with his parents, Martin & Gladys Goldthwait; younger brother, Lynn Goldthwait; and his in-laws, Charles & Elizabeth Bush. As an all-star athlete in his four years at Morley-Stanwood High School, Terry had a passion for and excelled in nearly every sport. This passion continued throughout his lifetime as he became a high school basketball referee and was an inductee in the Mecosta County Sports Hall of Fame. Terry valued hard work as the owner-operator of a trucking business and hobby cattle farmer, yet he never passed up an opportunity to spend time with his family, support his girls and many nieces and nephews at their sporting events, or participate in local community activities. Terry always had an extra minute (or hour) to stop and chat with neighbors, friends and family, especially if his favorite foods were involved. He cherished community and had the ability to foster relationships everywhere he went. Terry will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 53 years, Mary; daughters, Karla (Dan) Humm and Rachel (Andrew) Lapham; his grandchildren, Dan (age 19), Spencer (age 13), Tess (age 8), and Bridget (age 6); step-grandsons, Andrew (Bernadette) Humm and Levi Humm; brother, Duke (Barb) Goldthwait; sister, Sandy (Nick) Rynberg; and sister-in-law, Barb Goldthwait. The family invites Terrys greater community of family and friends to a visitation, Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service is scheduled on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood at 11:00 a.m. with visitation an hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Aetna township Cemetery.
