Sylvia (Peabody) Elliott, of Big Rapids formerly of Ludington, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 under the tender care of Evergreen Terrace and Hospice of West Michigan at the remarkable age of 98. She was born September 19, 1912 in Sunfield, MI to John "Snow" and Susie (Kenyon) Peabody. Sylvia was an active member in the Methodist Church. She was known to have a positive attitude and approached everything with much dignity. Sylvia married David Elliott on May 7, 1947 in Michigan and spent 63 wonderful years together until his passing September 20, 2010. She worked with her husband in the insurance business and real estate until her retirement. She loved to travel with David, fish, hunt and socialize. Sylvia cherished the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Clyde) Genter of Otto, NC, Barbara Gilbert of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Kimberly Cameron and Susan LeVeque of NC, Jeff (Margie) Genter of FL, Rosemary (Bruce) Ray and Brian (Luz) Gilbert of AZ, Bruce Gilbert of TN, George (Ruthanne) Gilbert, Tom (Dawn) Gilbert, James (Kathleen) Larock of MI; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Campbell of Benzonia and Ella O'Neil of Grand Rapids. Besides her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband David Elliott; granddaughter, Karen LaRock; grandson David Genter; siblings Martha VanBuren, Iris, Kenyon, Harold and Marshall Peabody. She joined her husband on their 64th wedding anniversary. She touched many lives in her 98 years and will be remembered by all as a "Great Woman" .
