Suzanne Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on July 23, 2025 in Big Rapids. She was born on March 5, 1936 in Ann Arbor to her parents, Rolland and Mina (Wooster) Servis. She later married the love of her life, William E. Smith, who preceded her in death in 2007.

Before moving to Big Rapids in 1980, Suzanne and William lived and raised their children, Cindy, Doug, and Laura, in Philadelphia. Throughout her life, Suzanne found joy in attending Dulcimer festivals, where unique fretted string instruments born out of the Appalachian mountains are played and celebrated. Most of all, she loved her family and adored nurturing her dogs.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Cindy (Wayne) Sutherland, Doug Smith, and Laura (Jeff) Hawkins; grandchildren: Robert Sgro (Amy), Anthony Sgro (Jessica), Megan Giuliani (Stephen), Michael Miller, and Haley Miller; and great-grandchildren: Macie Sgro, Paul Giuliani, Josie Giuliani, and Henry Sgro.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Rolland and Mina (Wooster) Servis; husband: William; and brother: James Servis.

Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Home. Suzanne will be laid to rest privately in her hometown of Ann Arbor.
