Sue Banks, age 73, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 17, 2023 at her home in Big Rapids. She was born July 31, 1950 in Cadillac, the daughter of the late Donald and Pauline (Peele) Marsh. Sue graduated from Central Michigan University with her Masters Degree in Childrens Literature. She was an elementary school teacher in Big Rapids for 39 years, retiring in 2011. Sue married William Banks on August 12, 1978 under a maple tree in Sears and they raised their two children in Big Rapids. She was an avid reader of a variety of genres. Sue also enjoyed collecting many childrens books, fairytales and was fascinated by history. Sue loved to tend to her pansy flower boxes on her deck and watching the birds out her window. She was a talented pianist and singer who played at many church services and weddings. Sue was an impressive cook and looked forward to cooking the familys favorite dishes. She loved to spoil her grandchildren any chance she got. Sue lived for her family and will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Bill of Big Rapids; children, Timothy Banks of Wheeling, IL, Ashley (Ryan) Fox of Rochester Hills; grandchildren who lovingly called her Umma, Sean and Molly Fox, and Sadie Banks. Sue was preceded in death by her very special Grandma Helen Marsh. Memorial contributions may be made in Sues name to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
