Steven P. Young, age 55, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016, at his home in Evart. He was born on January 28, 1961 in Hillsdale, MI to Don and Harriet (Maynard) Young. Steve was previously employed at Hayworth and was a "shoe elf" at Wolverine World Wide. He enjoyed fishing, football, especially the Lions, and nature walks. Steve is survived by his loving children, Courtney (fianc Harvey Fenton) and Paul Young of Evart; 3 grandchildren who he adored, Noah, Alaina and Cullen Fenton; 3 sisters, Jennifer (Tony) Kettel of TN, Darlene (Evertt) Elkins of TN and Lori (Michael) Brigner of AZ, 8 nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends, who will continue to remember the good times they had with Steve. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Doug and Curtis Young. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. The family will greet friends two hours prior from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Steves name can be made to the family.
