Steven A. Sims of Big Rapids passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the age of 64. Steve was born December 20, 1956 in Reed City to Lambert and Thelma (Lincoln) Sims. He graduated from Pine River High School and attended Ferris State University for one year. At the age of 15 he took over operating the family dairy farm in Ashton. On September 16, 1995 he married Janet Lenhart at the Ashton Fire House. Steve went on to work at Haworth and retired after 15 years. Steve enjoyed hunting deer and rabbit but had a real passion for gardening. He followed the U of M and Lions football teams, the Tiger baseball team and wrestling. Surviving are his wife; three children Teresa (Wayne) Biller of Rodney, Tina (Jeff) Ide of Texas and Lisa Bania of Clinton Township; son-in-law Jim Whaley of Canadian Lakes; nine grandchildren Charlene, Andrew, Nathan, Zachary, Morgan, Richard, Connor, Allyson, Brennan; two great grandchildren Chase and Avery and several nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Judy Whaley; three sisters Wava Hofer, Phillys Sims, Valrie Coin; one brother Jim Sims, an infant brother; son-in-law Keith Bania and nephew Jamie Sims.
