Steven "Bruce" Marek, age 64 of Oregon, Illinois formerly of Stanwood, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020. He was born October 20, 1956, in Flint, the son of Kenneth and Sandra (VanHouten) Marek. Bruce was a 1974 graduate of Chippewa Hills High School. After graduation he served his country honorably in the United States Army. Bruces passion was being an over the road truck driver. He was currently employed by Xtreme Xpress Transport. Bruce is survived by his son, Joseph Marek of Stanwood; sister, Bambi (Ron) Olsson of Stanwood; nephew, Marty Olsson of Stanwood; niece, Amber (Opie) Hutchinson of Reed City; mother, Sandra Marek of Stanwood; Uncle Butch VanHouten of Reed City; special friends that became family, Gary and Diane Schrimpsher of Oregon, Illinois; his trusty companion that traveled the road with him for the last 12 years, his dog Chief. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lindsey Marek and his father.
