Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Steven Lloyd Ladner, age 41, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 11, 2026. The son of Roger and Creana Ladner was born on September 8, 1984, in Big Rapids.

When Steven was little before computers and technology took over the culture, he could be found riding his bike on the rails to trails, or up and down the road he lived on in Paris with his mother Creana and little sister Katie. He could be found playing hot wheels in Miss Deb’s flower beds with the neighbor boy. Unbeknown to him that neighbor boy would end up marrying his little sister Katie and they would become family. His favorite cartoons growing up were Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his all-time favorite was Thunder Cats. He had every toy and action figure and kept them all even in adulthood in hopes that one day he could share them with others.

Some of Steven’s favorite memories from childhood were holidays at Grandma Donna’s Farmhouse, when the whole family would gather. He loved the weekends at Aunt Luanne’s house with the cousins Albie and Billy. He enjoyed decorating for Christmas and using as many lights as mom would allow him to hang up in his room without blowing a breaker. Of course, weekends at Dad’s house were always fun and adventurous.

When Steven grew into adulthood his love for computers and technology flourished and he was known to many as the technology genius, his passion for building computers and fixing them filled his days and he started up Ladner Computer Repair and would fix computers on the side for his friends and family. He was the built-in family IT go to person over the years. His expertise and coming to the rescue for all things technology will be missed.

Like Father like son, Steven had a soft spot for strays, and they weren’t always animals. Steven was kind and compassionate to those whom most people wouldn’t be. He often opened his home to his friends who were struggling and in need of a place to stay for the interim. His heart was so big, and he was loved by many. His open mindedness and compassion for others will always be remembered.

Steven loved his pets dearly and they miss him! His dog Zoey was his furry daughter who he spoiled endlessly. His cat Lilly he loved and took care of her for 8 years prior to his passing. Both animals have been rehomed and are doing well but miss their beloved human.

Steven is survived by his sister Katie (Tom) Cornell; grandmother, Donna Switzer; Uncles, Don (Lisa) Cole, Ken (Heather) Cole, and Scott (April) Cole, Alan (Sue) Ladner ; aunt's, Cindy (Mike) Stoops, Luanne (Doug) Devries; as well as his nieces and nephew Jared, Kristin, and Charlotte Cornell; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Creana Ladner; grandparents, Walt and Ida Ladner, Michael Switzer, and Donald and Lynn Cole; and nephew Kayden Michael Cornell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9th at Aetna Township Hall in Morley at 1pm. Steven will be laid to rest at Ladner Cemetery with his parents.
