Steve L. Mcmillan, age 56 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 2, 2020. He was born December 9, 1963, in Pontiac and raised in Rochester Hills, the son of James and Helen (Myatt) Mcmillan. Steve was a 1982 graduate of Rochester Hills High School.
He served in the United States Army during the Granada Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1985. Steve was a patriotic man that loved his country. He earned his associates degree from Oakland University and pursued his lifelong career in metrology. Steve was employed by MetroCal Inc. in Kentwood where he was currently working.
He could always be found outdoors; hunting, picking mushrooms, or snowmobiling. Steve was a talented grill master. He also enjoyed fishing and cooking breakfast on his fishing boat. Steve was a happy man who told great jokes.
He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them. Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Steve is survived by his five children, Nichole (Thomas) Mcmillan of Lewiston, Jeremy Mcmillan of Rochester Hills, Floyd Mcmillan of Lakeland, Florida, Jessie (Emily) Mcmillan of Canadian Lakes, and Bobbie Mcmillan of Lakeland Florida; his parents, James and Helen Mcmillan; his significant other, Jackie and her children Brandy, Nikki, and Shawn; two sisters, Becky (Charles) Butkovich of Lapeer and Bobbie (Keith) Whitehurst of Rochester Hills; ten grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
