Sharon L. Veen, age 79 of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday November 15, 2020. Sharon was born March 21, 1941, in Chicago, the daughter of George and Gizella (Emrich) Larson. On April 23, 1960, she married Harold Veen in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and together they raised their family in Oak Forest. Sharon was employed as a school bus driver by the Illinois public school system for 26 years. She then retired and moved to Big Rapids where she enjoyed being a board member of Big Rapids Housing Commission and the DART Committee of Big Rapids. In her free time, she enjoyed driving Powder Puff stock cars, doing mechanical work on vehicles, and snowmobiling. Sharon is survived by her two children, Harold Jr. (Gloria) Veen of Paris and Sharon Hartley of Big Rapids; two grandchildren; sister, Judy Meyer of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Sr. in 1982, infant son George, son-in-law Gordon Hartley, and step-daughter Donna. Cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
