Scott Alan Herrema, age 63, of White Cloud, Michigan, passed away on September 23, 2026.
Scott was born on May 19, 1963, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Eugene and Joyce Herrema. He lived his life with a sense of adventure, a great sense of humor, and a kind and generous heart. Scott loved animals and had a genuine willingness to help anyone in need. He was the kind of person who would lend a hand whenever someone needed one.
Although Scott had an adventurous spirit, he also understood the value of life's simplest moments. He could appreciate the beauty of a sunrise, a walk along the beach, or simply sitting quietly and watching the water and waves.
One of Scott's greatest passions was aviation. Over the years, he owned and flew many different aircraft and spent countless hours at the airport. Flying was much more than a hobby for Scott; it was an important part of who he was. Through aviation, he formed many lasting friendships, and the friends he made at the airport and throughout the aviation community became like family to him.
Scott also loved riding his motorcycle, camping, and spending time in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Some of Scott's happiest years were those he shared with his wife, Kendra. Scott and Kendra were married for four years, and together they truly lived life to the fullest. They shared Scott's love of aviation, attending fly-ins and taking memorable flights together, including trips to the Upper Peninsula and Mackinac Island. They camped, explored, enjoyed their cabin together, and made the most of the time they were given. Their beloved dog, Roscoe, was an important part of their family and shared in many of their adventures along the way.
Scott once said that his only regret was that he hadn't met Kendra sooner - a simple statement that said so much about how deeply he loved her and treasured the life they built together.
Scott spent his career as a skilled tool and die maker. His work reflected his ability to solve problems and his talent for working with his hands, but his career gave him something more than a livelihood. Over the years, Scott formed many friendships through his work, and a number of those friendships grew into lifelong bonds that he deeply valued.
Scott is survived by his wife, Kendra; his son, Josh; his father, Eugene Herrema and his wife, Betty; his brothers, Jim (Andrea) Herrema and Rod (Karen) Herrema; his sister, Sue Herrema; his mother-in-law, Donna (John) Eble; his father-in-law, Ken (Linda) Whipple; his brothers-in-law, Ryan (Tina) Whipple and David (Brooke) Whipple; his beloved dog and faithful companion, Roscoe; as well as extended family, many lifelong friends, and the aviation family that meant so much to him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Herrema.
Above all, Scott loved the Lord and had faith in Jesus Christ. His family takes comfort in knowing that his journey did not end on September 23. Scott is now at home in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, free from pain and at peace.
Scott will be remembered for his humor, his adventurous spirit, his kind heart, his generosity, and his willingness to help others. He knew how to live life fully while never losing his appreciation for its quietest and most beautiful moments.
Those who loved Scott will find reminders of him everywhere - in the sound of an airplane overhead, a motorcycle traveling an open road, a campfire in the woods, the shores of Lake Michigan, a beautiful sunrise, and an endless open sky. And while those things will bring memories of Scott, his family finds peace in knowing that this is not goodbye forever, but simply goodbye for now.
